Northwood HSF for prescot?

Perhaps this is a silly question, but will I be able to take the HSF off a retail northwood and use it on a Prescot? Not going to OC (mobo wont allow it). Thanks
 
Only thing I can say is give it a shot. If your case airflow is good, you may get away with it. Prescott HSF's came with a beefy copper center for a reason, you'd be much better off with one of those IMO.
 
okay, didn't know if there was any differences. Probably get an aftermarket HSF just to be safe. Thanks for the help.

that looks good, but it's a bit too pricey :( I was thinking of something in the $30 to $40 range since it's gonna stay at stock speeds. But if its that good, it sure is tempting...
 
Pick up the Arctic Freezer 4.

I think newegg has it on sale right now.
