Northbridge temps??

How hot is too hot for my Northbridge? Right now it idles right around 40c but then climbs to around 60c under load. It actually gets hotter than my cpu, but it's watercooled and norhtbridge is just stock hsf. I'm thinking I need to get my northbridge in my loop and keep it a bit cooler. How much does the Northbridge affect OC's?

The NB is critical in not just OCing, but general system performance and stability as well.

I'd not want my system's NB to get much hotter than my CPU.

Instead of putting another restriction in your loop, look at some quiet air coolers. My Swiftech MCX159 runs 18dB, and my NB is 30C right now, and goes up to ~35C during games. I'm using an Aerogate2 for temperature monitoring, and a probe is stuck right against my NB. My NB is almost always running at the same temperature that my CPU and GPU run at (temps differ when I crank up the OC on my cpu and gpu).

It's easy to get your NB to the same temp as your CPU, without compromising your watercooling performance. Just a suggestion. ;)

Does voltage to the vdimm affect the northbridge? Does it jump up in voltage and thus temp, when increased in vdimm?

Vdimm is for your RAM, and goes through a seperate voltage chip, not your northbridge. The NB talks to the RAM, but doesn't supply the power to it. The northbridge uses another voltage setting ("CHIP" for the Asus boards with this feature unlocked; might be Vdd for others).
