Northbridge temp...

MCP is the southbridge, isn't it? While the northbridge, unmonitored on a lot of boards, is the SSP? Or is that backwards.

You may be forced to use a temp probe.
 
Try speedfan. It works for my P-35 where nothing else would. I was happy to see it idle at 28C. and fully loaded at 46C. It's water cooled of course.
 
I just completed my new H20 setup... I have added the 2 8800GTXs and the Northbridge... but I've been curious as to what the temp it has now... or even what it used to be.
 
On Nvidia Chipsets, SPP is northbridge, MCP is southbridge,
For intel, MCH is northbridge and ICH is southbridge.

Some boards have the temperature diodes, some dont. If it does, Bios will have the information, and any program in windows will try its best to draw figures from that rom.
 
Sorry for the misinfo...It was I who had it backwards...spp - northbridge, mcp - southbridge

Can somebody post me what they get on their SB and NB with the stock cooling.

and what do you use for 680i sli motherboard to monitor temperatures for NB + SB.
 
Hmmm... I thought it says on the BIOS for the EVGA 680i A1 mobos... will confirm... I just don't know how accurate that can be.
 
Sorry to bump, but is there a way to view the MCH temperature (northbridge temperature in a P35) in Windows? I don't see it in SpeedFan at all. I'm on an Abit IP35 Pro.
 
if the diode isnt there there no way to check chipset temps.

If there is, it'l be in bios.
 
Use a temp probe. I use both a digital and an analogue temp probe attached to chip itself underneath my waterblock on my 680i's northbridge.

On the 680i boards, there are no built in diodes so you must purchase some yourself.
