North Korea Developing Electromagnetic Pulse Weapons

In related news...
North Korean super secret agents that one day will be sent to the US to infiltrate our society are being trained by watching Richard Dean Anderson's McGyver tv series.
While unable to use firearms, future agents will be able to kill with a roll of duct tape, a fountain pen, nan empty toilet paper roll and industrial strength rubber band approximately 37 different ways!

We should fear the North Korean leader... He might have a paper clip...

Couldn't we do something to North Korea to make their people rise up? Like take pictures of thousands of awesome things we do around the world that they probably don't, like goto water parks and hang out in Las Vegas and tons more. Then make like 100 million copies of the photos and fly over cities in N Korea using Stealth bombers and drop boxes full of them that pop open and spread the pics all over.

I think the main point is that keeping people poor and barely surviving allows the regime to continue. If they change anything people might have more resources and realize how bad they have it. If we paper bomb them the authorities will just tell them it is all fake and a war tactic because America cannot defeat the mighty NK they are reduced to paper bombing.

Beyond that I am not really sure that paper bombing or other psychological tactics ever were that effective in modern times.

A good example is Libya where Gadhafi was able to hold onto similar power for decades. What is funny is that he started opening the country up, bringing in investment and so on, and it was very soon after that, that Gadhafi was overthrown. Ironic isn't it? He was a horrible leader but as long as people believed that he was protecting them and there was a major outside threat they supported him, as soon as he actually started to improve the quality of life they destroyed him. The same thing would likely happen in NK. This is also why these leaders often amass a huge army, because what they are really doing is paying a lot of people to say, well its better to have things good, IE not starving and be part of the regime then to be a peasant who might starve to death next month.

I'm failing to see how these weapons are a threat, when THAAD systems are already in place around the border, they wouldn't get a chance to detonate.

If they have enough energy for a non-nuclear EMP and can actually pull it off - I'm not even mad. That's impressive. I've seen small ones take out a car. But, it took a shit ton of energy to do so. Things are probably a bit more efficient these days, but even then I have my doubts that NK could pull it off.

I'd like to see them do it, though. Then, we can show them what a nuclear EMP looks like up close.
