Normally Closed or Normally Open?

I have this switch:

Now, I know that RED goes to "+", BLACK goes to "-" and YELLOW goes to "C".

But what's the extra one? NC or NO?

It's a latching-style switch. As in, you press it in for ON and press it again, pulling it out for OFF.

with alarms NO means normally open, alarm on short, NC means normally closed,(short) alarm on open-that seems to be a switch/relay that looks for a condition on the line before kicking out a response, do you want the relay to kick on when the circuit goes open, or closed?

Bottom is +
Top is -
Left is NC Normally Closed
Middle is NO Normally Open
Right is C Closed

It's easily readable in that pic. Maybe I don't know what you are asking...
 
I think he may be asking what the difference is between NO and NC.
If that is the case, here is an example to help you out;
Think of a light bulb and light switch. In its non-powered state (which is its default state), it is NO. Then when you hit the switch it allows the electricity to complete the circuit and power the bulb by 'closing' the circuit.
Conversely, an example of a NC circuit would be your breaker panel in your home. During normal operation, the circuit is closed, meaning electricity is flowing through the circuit. If you trip the breaker, it 'opens' the circuit, thus killing power to that circuit.

With that info you can now plan how to wire that thing up to each piece of equipment in the circuit and make them act the way you want them to depending on the switch position.
 
What puzzles me about that switch is why are there + and - blades???
A switch usually only switches the hot leg of a circuit and all neutrals and grounds get tied together or all placed on the same pin.
The only two reasons I can think of is that either the switch has a light or LED that lights up in it and the + and - are for power for it, or it has a powered relay in it for use in tripping the switch as a fail-safe. Similar to having a cooling fan that is NC and an alarm buzzer on the NO that would go off in case the switch got tripped or the relay looses power witch would trip the switch and set off the buzzer.
 
Because Im guessing its really a relay. If you meter out the terminals I would bet youll find there is no connection between the + and - parts of the switch (but the + and - should read open and closed to each other based on the movement of the switch, otherwise those contacts are likely for an LED within the switch?) with the NO, NC, and C terminals. What did it come out of?
 
Ah, so NO means it's OFF when no pressed, as in when the circuit is normally open.

So, if I set it to NC, it will work unless I press it, not the way I want.

P.S. Yes, the "+" and "-" are +5v and GRND for the LED.
 
Yep, normally open (NO), as in the circuit is 'normally open' or not complete, in the initial starting position (not pressed.)
