I just put that fx5200 i want to overclock in my pc and the fan was dieing it started going then stop started going then stop.............................. Does this happen alot or am i lucky?
 
Mine never had a fan, so dunno. Just had a massive heatsink on it. I later screwed a cpu fan onto that, and it cooled the thing down very well.

Was an evga fx5200 btw.
 
Fans die pretty easilly.

If I were you I'd just buy one of those two 80mm fan slot coolers that blow air directly at your gfx card from your local hardware shop and take just the fan off the heatsink to stop any noise, they'd cool your card just fine. The only two exceptions to this rule would be if you want to do a sick OC and you want to spend an extra $10 on top of the $10 for the slot cooler and get a new HSF combo for it to irk out another extra 20 mhz OC OR if you think the current HS is too small and you think you'd benefit from a larger HSF.
