Whats the normal temp on idle of a AMD Athlon XP 2400+ using a Cooler master Aero 7+ with arctic silver....?

Im running on idle at 104 - 107F in game im running 107 - 114F.....

There is no real "normal". Unless you have someone with the identical system as you (case fans everything). Also some motherboards report higher then others.

Even with all of this, depending on the steppings a chip can run cooler or warmer.

plz use Celcius
so ur running
idle: ~40-42C
load: ~42C-45C

that seems a bit high but then again, whats ur ambient temp? and case temp?

ST|FFY thanks for the transfer to C.

If you have an abit board the temps are probably lower then are shown. Abit uses some odd formula to figure out temps compared to other mobo manufacturers.

???????:D

That dosent seem high at all.

Trust me, your prossesor will tell you when its too hot (unless its an old athlon:p )

There is nothing wrong about those temps, they're pretty good. It's just that people have different metrics of what constitutes a good temperature for them.

If it's stable, it's not too hot.

But for some reason, my CPU idle temps have gone up 5 degrees from a few days ago, and I have no clue why.

yeah it might also be the fact that i live in a fucking desert :/ but hey what can i do.... so that sounds about right....?

I think the higher the temp, the more Abit overestimates it by. So if the real temp is 35C Abit might overestimate by maybe 3C, but if it's actually really 40C Abit may overestimate by 5C.

Not really sure though.

yeah im not running an Abit mobo tho im running an ECS K7VTA3 v3.0d... and im using my case Termal Reader to check the temp... along with MBM5 They are both the same temp so.. yeah.... they only other alternitive i have to makeing my cpu run cooler is to get a Water cooling system or make a vapor cooling system for it... other then that for just Air cooling i think its normal... im running a Superflower Case... My friend has a Superflower as well with the Aero 7+ (same thing) AMD 2500+ and it runs cooler thats why i was asking... i dunno were im going wrong but for some reason mines always running hotter...

I don't know the design of your case, but if you have more hard drives, or messier cables they'll mess up your airflow. Also a higher performance vid card will up the temps as well.

There's too many variables you're not telling us that prevent us from drawing any conclusions as to why your temps are higher than his setup which is supposedly the same.
