Quick question about the Norco 4020 for those that have one ... just how quite is it?

I'm looking at upgrading my current media server in the next year and these cases look pretty sweet. The only issue is that it would be going in my office room, which is just on the other side of a wall from my living room. I can get my hands on a 2-post rack for free if I decide to go this route. Unfortunately, I live in Houston so putting it in the garage isn't an option ;)

I was told that it was very quiet by others. I bought mine through an ebay vendor and the fans ended up being extremely loud, so I had to swap them out. I just used some yate loons from jabtech, as they were by far the cheapest around.

hmm... 7 80mm fans.... should be easy enough to replace those. I'm wondering if the back two would even be needed with 5 pulling air from the hard drives and blowing it out the back. Heck, considering I would be starting with only 4-5 drives I could probably get away with populating one column and unplugging 3 of the 5 hard drive fans to cut down on noise even more....

You may want to seal off the openings if you do that, otherwise it will just be pushing air in circles a bit. I went so far as to put some aluminum tape over the wire routing holes in the bottom of the fan panel that I wasn't using.

I just got this case and, based on comments on the [H]ard|Fourms about loud fans, I bought replacement Panaflo's when I got the case. I got the Panaflo's for $2 a piece from Directron. Gotta love surplus items in their showroom.
