Hiya,

First, thanks all for your help elsewhere on thermal material / heatsink, etc.

Finally, I got my comp up and running!!! Even installed xp on raid-0 config... works awesome! But my machine is not able to shut down or restart ... i.e. the software does it's part of shutting/restarting, but then the computer doesn't really shut/restart... it just sits there waiting for me to press the power/restart switch.... Any ideas what I might have messed up with? Maybe something with motherboard / psu?

Here are the specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
Asus A8N SLI Premium
Antec TPII 550 power supply
Antec p180 case
Corsair Twinx 2gb dual channel ram (4x512)... hope it works with my mobo
2x74gb WD Raptor sata drives - RAID 0 (nvraid)
320gb WD Caviar sata drive - not raided
1 x evga 6600gt sli card (temp...for $150... waiting for 6800ultra/7800 to cheapen).

Thanks!

Check to make sure you've installed the chipset drivers, sometimes power management has issues if the chipset software isn't installed. Also turn your BIOS settings to default just in case.

Hey thanks!! I installed the chipset drivers, and now it's working better... now the screen goes blank... but the cpu fan keeps running... and it's LOUD (revving VERY fast... see my question in the amd cpu forum).
