When you need the extra performance, the CPU will overclock itself to the maximum multiplier. And the FSB change is normal; since you increase the FSB, the rated FSB should increase as well (the rated FSB is FSB*4 on Intel CPUs)Went into the bios and changed the fsb from 200 to 254 to oc to 2.8. what happens is the minimum multiplier (shown in bios) drops from 11 to 10. The fsb shows 1006 (was800) and the cpu shows 2546 (was 2400) in cpuz, What am I doing wrong?
Am I supposed to be changing the sb to nb frequency in the bios?
No, you are changing the front side bus (fsb)
(This is between the cpu and the northbridge)
Sure, just tell me how to get a screen shot of that. Can you post me a screenshot of your cpu-z?
Open cpuz, press printscreen, paste it in paint, save as jpeg, upload to image shack, paste link here.
Very strange, can't get the print key to copy anything, hmm.Hmm make sure its the right one, and try pasting it straight into paint.
Validate your OC-result thenVery strange, can't get the print key to copy anything, hmm.
Validate your OC-result then![]()
That points to my images, can you load up the image and use the image tags build into the forum?
No, can you open the image full screen then post the direct link with the .jpg on the end.
The fsb listed in the asus window isnt your real physical fsb. So your multi seems to be 10, is there anyway to get it back up to what it should be in bios?
What is the stock clock of your cpu?
Edit: the stock frequency is 2400mhz so this means your multi should be 12 not 10.
Correct, in the bios it had a minimum of 11 and maximum of 12 listed as the locked clock speed so I changed my FSB to 233 and it change the core only slightly so I changed it to 254, 2800 divided by 11=254 and it changed it to what see in cpu-z.
Your multiplier seems to be 10 in the cpuz you uploaded...
That is strange, try clearing your CMOS and re entering the settings turning cool and quiet off.
Try increasing your fsb by 5
Oh, and a tip, to add an image to a forum post, click the little image icon when making a post, and put the link there.
Yes, just to make sure the multi will stay at 12.
232x12 is not too bad.
Oh right, hmm update your bios to the latest version.
