Noob to monitors need help

What are you going to use the monitor for? Gaming? General use (web browsing)? Work? What are your criteria and expectations for this new monitor?

i mean thats a pretty good deal on a 19" monitor. i never was a big fan of "asus" but for that price its hard to beat.

That review was informative. But I was under the impression that contrast ratio, the higher the better. And that one only is 810:1.

Yes of course.

But the AOC is pretty much gaurenteed to be worse and has a 5ms response time.

The Acer H243H reaches nearly 1,000:1.

Many people have reported a lot of backlight bleed ,but if you're purchasing it from Wal-Mart you can exchange it easily.

I would opt for the Acer G245H, but its 60$ more then the H243H.

You can see the g245H calibrated and compared to a bunch of other gaming monitors here.

I get that AOC is bad. I was told they were better though, by a friend but that is preference. From googling around it seems AOC has a les than perfect rep.

so does acer seem to be on top with quality?

In terms of TN gaming monitors yes.

The G245H will look better then the H243H due to the color vibrancy the Glossy screen adds.

If you want a matte screen without relfections the LG W2442PA is the best next to the G245H. It's 273$ from NClX but they're having a Christmas sale so it should go down to around 200$. It has a faster response time then the Acer and a better stand, but it has a slightly higher black level and is Matte.

Wow 210$. Great price.

Actually I would get Walmart to price match sense they have a much better return policy.

Ya and just found someone wanting an xbox 360, I never use the thing, so there is most o the money. :). I just didn't want to make an uniformed decision. And regret it :p
