Noob question, mayb? Fanless solution?

Hello,

This may be a completely noob question, but I was wondering if there was ANY completely fanless water cooling solutions out there? It seems like even the most complete water cooling requires at least one or two fans in the system.

Is the only way to be completely fanless to have peltiers?

What is included in your setup? Is this for a home theater PC, or admin station for word processing, or hard core gaming machine? My only thought for a fanless cooling system would be oil submersion, but then again you're gonna have to expel the heat somehow.
 
No. You need fans.

If you use peltiers, you still, certainly, need even more fans - as peltiers are horribly inefficient.
 
theres one guy thats making/made a WC setup without fans. granted he is using finned tubes that are like 6 ft tall. haha. its called "massive passive" and i think its in the casemods worklog forum. you can search for it if you cant find it. but as far as a practical setup goes, fanless isnt really an option. :p

EDIT: i went ahead and found it for you: here. it was right here in the WC section, not the worklogs section.

Back in the day I used an Innovatek Konvekt-o-Matic passive radiator. It didn't cool "great", but it worked as a passive solution. I later made a huge shroud and strapped 4x120mm fans to it. I'd imagine you can probably still use a very large radiator in a passive sense today, as long as you're not heavily oc'ing and don't have a power hungry cpu.
 
do a velonti cooler. They are a bunch of pvc pipes that have holes in them that run down micro fiber towels into a large res (like a beer cooler) and it cools itself down through evaporation, i think its ninja002 that does this kind of stuff but look into it :)
