I just bought a Intel 5820k and a MSI X99S Xpower AC motherboard. I have been an AMD fanboy from the 386/120MHZ days and I'm not familiar with the Intel 2011 v3 socket. I put everything together and when I tried to boot I got all the fans and lights but debug led say only 00. Does anyone know what that means? Also, I was wondering if I might have put the CPU in wrong and then correcting it will that cause the problems I'm having.

Specs:
intel 5820k
msi xpower ac x99 socket 2011v3
16 gig G.skill 3200 DDR4 memory
sapphire r9 290x 8gig videocard
crucial 512gig M.2 SSD

Unless you had to force it in, you shouldn't have put it in wrong.

Code D0 (code 00 doesn't exist) after googling around seems to indicate either bent pins or bad bios. Also possible bad CPU. I believe that board has a second bios, switch to the second one and see what happens. Also, use only one stick of RAM.

I'm assuming you had you GPU placed in the MB when you powered up? One RAM stick? All the PSU cables connected properly? A heatsink on the CPU?

D0 is indeed a "late CPU initialization"

If you can, I'd remove the heatsink, take up the bracket and check the socket, reseat the cpu and try again.

As Tsumi said, you have two BIOS on the board. After yopu reseat the cpu, flip the BIOS to the "B" slot and retry.

Sounds like you may have FUBAR'D the socket pins if you initially put the CPU in wrong as you stated.
Intel CPUs are pretty easy to install, they have notches in the sides of the die that only go into the socket one way, plus the little golden triangle in the front left corner. Hopefully you didn't bend a socket pin......ouch......

Thanks for the info, but I tried all of this and it still read "00" which you believe is ""D0" and I am inclinded to believe that is true. I've already ordered another CPU and will be RMA'ing the board too

That's too bad.

I'm pretty sure it's the board and not the CPU.
In 15 years I've never received a bad CPU from either Intel orAMD, they are essentially bullet-proof unless you don't put on a heatsink and enable the MB.

There's probably a bad pin in the MB socket, which can and does happen on occasion.
