Hey all...
First time shopper here! I'm in the proccess of buying something from a memeber here on this site. (I didn't know whether or not I should have given his name) Should I have? Maybe someone will recognize him and has done business with him before. Anyway, I don't have PayPal and he offered me to use Western Union. I have been told and have read to never send money for online purchases using this method. The seller DID provide me with his name and address that I verifed. Although his phone number he gave me is not the one that's listed but it could be because he didn't want to give out his home phone. Being that this is my first time ever doing something like this I thought I would ask for your advice before finalizing.
P.S. He is in Canada. I guess that's OK?
What other possible payment methodds are there. I know I can google it, and I have, I just wanted someone's opinion from a user here.
To the seller: I hope you understand my reason for asking. No offense meant. I just can't afford to get burned.
Thanks to all that can help...

EDIT: Please do not make your entire post in BOLD, that's like SHOUTING and just not cool. - Lethal

Sorry! I thought writing in capital was shouting...Now I know...cheers...

Well, first off even though you dont have paypal. You can sign up for free and it only takes a few minutes. And the sellers location in Canada shouldn't be a problem, but sometimes international shipping between us and canada doesnt always go as planned, just make sure he does it right.

your doing great by being cautious!
if the guy is reputible he will have himself some feedback, www.heatware.com
or ebay.com are the two biggest places for feedback. if he doesnt have either
then it might no be worth doing it!
if its something you really want and you do trust the guy, then just send a postal money order.
your best bet is to get signed up with paypal, i know they are a pain in the ass and they have huge fees, but it still is a pretty safe way of doing fee transactions.

email him back and ask why he didnt give his real phone number? it shouldnt be a problem if he is legit!

good luck

I just registered with HEATWARE and I looked him up and he has 7 good reviews. So I guess all is good. Thanks you guys for your help! This site is great!

Yeah starting out can be a little scary. 7 isn't a lot of heat tbh. If I was new I think I would try to buy from people with atleast 20-0-0 personally.

everyone has to start someplace, so if he has 7 positive and they are all recent, you should be in pretty good shape!

Thanks for your optimism...You're right...one must start somewhere...I will stay optimistic...Thanks guys...

Your only as good as your last trade, even someone with 1000+ can go bad, just do your best to protect yourself

Get all the contact info you can and VERIFY IT, no point if they give it to you and you do nothing but look at it

Call the home phone # and talk with them, if theyre under 18 talk to a perant and let them know whats up and make sure htier comfortable with it.

Look up the address with like the whitepages.com same with the phone number.

ALWAYS ask for tracking/DC and insurance, you never know what will happen.

Thats just a few off the top of my head

Pretty much trust your gut, if it feels off, it probably is. You can always find what your lookin for somewhere else :)

how much money are we talking about? and how much does it mean to you? to some folks losing $50 can be hard, others an irritant. Listen to what CDS said in post above, and follow through. If they are legit then they shouldn't have any problem jumping through a couple of hoops to verify their contact info......

Payment methods? Always have at least two besides a USPS money order.

StormPay is a great alternative to Paypal.
No refferals

edit: Sorry CDS. I didn't mean to come across like that. The option to sign up solo is of course the first option. :)
