I've never played Morrowind before and was hoping someone could clarify exactly how the game plays. Basically, I'm looking for an adventure game; something in a similar vein to the ol' Zelda series. I don't mind if its got completely non-linear elements and you can just go off doing what you like, but I'd ideally also like to be able to follow a linear path if I choose, knowing exactly what I have to do to 'complete' the game so to speak... does Oblivion fit the bill? Or is it more open-ended than that?

I've never really gotten into RPGs like Diablo, etc. - prefer something with a bit more story/characters/etc. A good old fashioned 'adventure' game like Zelda, I don't want to faff around too much building up hit points and whatnot. Is it possible to play Oblivion (assuming it plays like its predecessors) in that vein, or not really..? :-/

Oblivion is a deep RPG that can engulf you for months with over 200+ hours of gameplay, and 16 square miles to roam in. You can build and develop a character in nearly limitless conditions and complete quests in so many ways.

RPG = Role Playing Game

Zelda = Action Adventure

2 completely different types of games.

pibrahim the less you know the better. YOU make the game.

I had never played an rpg at a time. I bought Morrowind it looked like a fps so I tried to play it like one. Yes that took me nowhere being very frustrated that I couldn´t kill the easiest enemy without going for involnerable mode and hacking at them for literally 10 minutes before they die....

But really the less you know about the game the better. Make your own path and when you are done replay it from what you learned the first time :).

I knew there was a main quest in Morrowind but I got so lost exploring whats here and whats there doing quests I had a journal of 250 pages when I got the package to Caius... Which I had lost of course at that time but since I have the PC version I could get it back :).

But it´s not this railway shooter like COD. If you play it like that you won´t enjoy it. Make your own journey. Do whatever you feel like. Morrowind got me hooked like no other game I got seriously addicted to it. Have never playing a game so intensively and for so long I didn´t get blood moon just because I was afraid I would get so stuck again... It´s so big you can´t do it all.

But trust me you don´t need to know anything about it. That is kind of part of the story. You start in a prison have no idea who you are or what world you are in. To reveal that is fantastic fun :). And while doing so learning the game mechanics learn new ways to solve problems
