I'm looking to overclock my Gateway(i know i should build my own, it's a gift, but a good gift so i can't complain) computer that my father-in-law bought for me and my wife. I went into my bios last night and can not seem to find any of the things that i need to overclock. For instance i can't adjust anything like the FSB or the memory, in fact i can not even find where they are to adjust it in the bios. Am i looking in the wrong places? I pressed F2 to get into it, but no where in there do i see FSB speed or memory. Anyone else have this issue with a Gateway? thanks for any info.
Here's a link to my complete specs, except i don't have a 3.0 and 160gig.

its the 510XL package 1.

I don't think it could be overclocked through the BIOS. You might as well buy a new motherboard and transfer the components over if you want o/c.

Yeah, if you want to o/c then buy a new motherboard. If you really want to try it, google CPUFSB and download it, it's a program that lets you change your FSB from inside windows. HOWEVER.... A computer like that won't have a lock on the AGP/PCI bus speeds, so as you raise your fsb the AGP and PCI frequency will also go up. This is not a good thing, and can often cause instability and data corruption. I corrupted my old hard drive from doing this, was unable to recover my files.

Good luck... :)

He should be REALLY careful because many of the new AGP cards don't tolerate out-of-spec ratios well. It could even kill the video card if you go too high.

Man this sucks. So is the bios locked down or something so that i can't adjust it? Is that why i have to buy a new motherboard? Anyway, any suggestions as to what board i should buy then? thanks again.
