i currently have a 250 watt psu in my old computer, im looking to upgrade it soon with a new video card, psu, ect, but i dont have any idea what too look for. certain power supplies for certain socket types? mines a socket 478 with this motherboard

http://support.gateway.com/s//MOTHERBD/Intel2/2521363/2521363nv.shtml

Im looking to spend at most 100 USD, but it could be a little more. i would also prefer it to be quiet, since my computer is next to my bed and i occasionaly leave it on all night.

Thanks in advance for helping a noob out.

20-pin ATX with 4-pin P4, so any reasonable PSU should be fine.

XClio 450BL ATX 450W [Dual +12V Rails] (Best Bang for the Buck!)
Specs: http://www.xclio.com/htm/products-PSU-450BL.htm
$38: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817189003

I have personally tested this PSU & I highly recommend it for low to mid-range systems.

Enhance ENP-5140GH 400W [Dual +12V Rails]
Specs: http://www.enhanceusa.com/series.php?series_id=4#43
From $54: http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=Enhance+ENP-5140GH&hl=en&btnG=Search&lmode=online&scoring=p
If the XCilo 450W is not available, this is a good alternative for low to mid-range systems.
