So I have a Z68 mobo and a GTX 680 (well now 2x GTX 670s on the way). Anyways... the mobo came with the GREEN version of the software. Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to run the Universal MVP version?
 
You're going to be restricted to only using a certain version of the software. Considering that the software barely works in the first place, it's rather laughable how tightly they try and lock it down.

The software overall is just incredibly buggy and rarely if ever ends up doing what it claims. It's supposed to save you power by switching to your onboard GPU when you aren't in a game, but it does nothing special to power down your discrete GPU compared to the power saving features it already has. A total sham. The discrete GPU mode is a bit better in that it mainly allows you to use quicksync on the onboard GPU without having a monitor hooked up to it - but the software sucks so bad that it's actually just easier to add that 2nd monitor...
 
I gave it a try with my new Z77 motherboard. Trust me, it is completely useless. It works in 3dmark11, the support for games is a joke!

Don't bother with it IMO.
 
quick sync is awesome and is really fast for video encoding. That is the only use for this software. there is only 2 softwares that work with quick sync. totally worth it though
 
You can install and try MVP as a 30 day evaluation version on Z68 using the Z77 installer. I don't know if they all work, I used the original Asrock version on my Asus Z68 board. I know later versions put an annoying floating logo that bounces around your screen.

Virtual Vsync tanked framerates for me and was really jerky.

Hyperformance mode pushed up my benchmark scores by dropping frames but actual gaming performance went down a little. Tested with GTA 3/SA/4 and FSX and made sure the H checkbox was checked for each.

Inmature software? not optimized for Z68 yet? buggy? I can't answer those, I just know it didn't work well for me.
