Sorry for my noob-ness but how does overclocking work when you have two cards in crossfire? Do you OC each card seperately... two sets of core/mem sliders in ATItool? How does it work and do people usually even bother? ...or are the returns of overclocking so low it's not worth it in crossfire mode?

Noob Crossfire OC Question

Ocing with Crossfire is a PITA.
ATI tool can OC each independantly but you have to manually load setting for each card every time.
CCC lets you OC only the Master card. I have a bios that OCs xtx cards (and xt cards that have 1.1 ns mem) you can find it here: Anandtech Forums link
So that you can OC the Master card through CCC and with my bios you can have @ least some OC when in 3d mode so you don't have to worry about it.

define worth it, they run hotter than hell so ya water would help them not run that hot.

When I say 'worth it', I mean increasing clock speed for performance.
But you raise a good point, it would cool them silently which is definitely a plus.
As a side note, does anyone know anyone with a WC crossfire system? I wouldn't mind seeing some pics.

I'm actually wondering the same as I just setup my 1900xtx crossifre and am now trying to OC. I was getting minimal clocks with Riva and CCC so figured might be cooling. Now I have them on a pair of MAZE 4's and i'm still getting shit for overclocks. I'm continuing the search but it looks like might need to raise the volts a bit to get the clocks I want.

Damn... maybe I'll stick with a single card and just OC the crap outta it...
Messing with it some more and I think my xtx might have some problems as it runs much hotter than what I think is normal. I'm going to remount cooling just to be sure but pretty sure I might need a rma on my xtx.
I figured out the oc as well if you use atitool .25 beta 14 it lets you overclock the x1900 cards, as well as change the voltages and lets you switch from card to card.
