noob cpu fan question

will a motherboard refuse to work if no fan is attached? the rpm monitoring used for the bios to be exact. because i'm gunna get an xp-90 and just use large fan with a 4 pin molex
 
If you boot a first with the old bios-settings, it will probably reboot saying the CPU fan isn't connected.
So enter your bios for you remove the CPU fan, change under "hardwaremonitoring" the fan-control option to "disable".
Most motherboard bios'es will have this option.

I found out the hard way, when I changed to watercooling, and so removed all fan controled by the motherboard.
