hi all

ive recently learned about TPM and its applications and the fact that Windows 8 has TPM 2.0 support which governments can use to access all areas of your computer (backdoor)

basically i wanted to know if any hardware out there is still TPM-free or whether one can purchase a laptop (ubuntu?) which is TPM-free? (i live in uk)

i do nothing untoward with my computer but i dont like the sound of potentially being spied on
 
Most standard PCs and laptops do not have TPM.

To get TPM you need to buy the module and install it on your motherboard, or you have to buy the business class line of laptops.

TPM's are usually on business-grade and server equipment, and only if it is listed or you add it. There are many reasons for having a secure, on-device location for storing information that is agnostic to the OS. What alarming information did you read about TPMs?
