Non-OEM 360 hdd worth getting?

Just use a compatible WD HDD of your own. Even cheaper.

It should be fine.

This is what I did. Been working perfectly since I got it back in '08. Cost me a whopping $40 back then when a 120 GB was $150 from M$, which is ridiculous. I see no way how they can justify a 3-4x markup over what the HDD actually costs at retail.

They use space age plastic to coat the hard drive.

A quick Google gave me this :p.

I used the 120 GB WD BEVS drive when I did min a few years ago. Not sure of the availability of those now or if the process has changed much. Seems pretty similar to what I did on that page though.

The only thing I've encountered using non-oem 360 hdd's are that they can't play original Xbox games due to a missing partition. No biggie if you only play 360 games.

This is news to me. I have a WD BEVS 120GB drive in place of my failed 20GB and I'm still able to play the Xbox original games. Maybe the drive needs to be reformatted?

Ya I just added the partition with hhdhackr and it worked.

This is totaly, completly, uterly ... FALSE !

Using a 250GB in mine right now. Cheap WD from bestbuy that I flashed. Don't ban us for a HD xbox, your prices are ludicrous.

I say: If you have any reservations about a non oem harddrive, just get the refurbished ones, unshell it, and buy a 7 dollar shell that works in the slim.
