First off, sorry if this is a repost. I couldn't find anything that answered my question.

Is there a particular model of fan cooling device for vid cards in a SLI config.

I see tons of configurations of fans and heat sinks to attach to the GPU, but can any of them be used in a SLI system? I am eyeing the AV Silencer for my cards, but thought I would ask first!

It depends on your motherboard and the spacing between the slots. If you have two, there's no issue with silencers or zalmans and you're good to go.

If you have one, then you're in trouble because all the aftermarket coolers I've seen use up two slots and if you're looking for performance there's not much room for the top card to work efficiently. It's not critical to your card if you have decent airflow in your case and they would most likely be more quiet, but don't expect great temps.
For Zalmans there's a issue of the mounting mechanism on the back of the 2nd that may interfere with the top card. You could forgo the back brace and fit them though like the gigabyte 7800gt card. Silencers cannot be used here because the tip of the fan extends further than the 2nd slot, it'd drill into your 2nd card.

Yea.. There is only one free "slot" between my two cards, that is why I was eyeing the AV Silencer series. Too drive the air out the back.

I may just order one and see how it goes, but I really appreciate the input.
Thanks!
