For sale thread in question is this one, he's removed the pictures but I do have the pictures he sent via text:

https://hardforum.com/threads/sold-...-u6-pro-ap-8tb-seagate-skyhawk-drive.2038426/

Last monday the 9th, member t4keheart posted some unifi equipment up for sale at decent prices. Not too good to be true, but not out of line with a few very good unifi posts in the past. We agreed on his posted price ($600) and shipping details. Since he didn't have much heat and a little bit of eBay feedback, we agreed on half now and the other half upon receipt. I did pay via PayPal F&F which was my mistake, but the seller and I did communicate via text and he provided pictures of the unifi equipment with my name and date on post-its. We also communicated via eBay messaging so I could verify his account. We agreed that he'd ship on Wednesday the 11th and provide tracking info, but I haven't heard back from him since then. I've texted and called each day to try and get an update and no response in addition to a PM on Saturday. The voice mailbox for his phone number is full as of today. According to his profile, he hasn't logged on since Wednesday the 11th.

I'm putting this out here in the hopes that anyone else dealing with him proceed with caution or not at all since it appears that I've been scammed. He's also posted a WTB thread and I'd also advise that no one sell to him either:

If I receive communication from him and get this resolved, I'll gladly remove this thread.

I was actually thinking about responding on his WTB thread a few days ago, but I noticed that no one has heard back from him.

I just posted this thread in his WTB thread.

Something possibly could have happened, but at this point, it isn't looking good.

As for his Heatware, I'd wait a bit and see if you hear from him before posting a negative review.

Another thing; I wouldn't ever use F&F PayPal unless I know and have dealt with a member in the past. A lot of people have gotten shafted doing so.

He took down all details of his FS, why would anyone do that unless they're scamming? He has zero Heatware, and I can't find his eBay name (either he took it down, eBay did, or his eBay name is different). Again, it's nice to give him the benefit of the doubt, but as stinger608 says, it isn't looking good.

Lesson learned about F&F PayPal. I've used it recently as both a seller and buyer and was apprehensive about it, but he did provide what look to be real pictures via text of the equipment. His eBay feedback is under a different name and I was able to verify that it was him. Hopefully a big misunderstanding, but not looking good at the moment.

Stick with the standard payment for anyone that isn't actual family or friends. Even the most highly respected person here can fall on hard times, so CYA is necessary with no hard feelings to the best of us.

F&F payment to someone here with only 114 posts in 5 years? you didnt do your homework. that is wayyy to low of activity to be asking for F&F around here. only the real long-term accounts here with proven record of lots of good transactions are the ones to F&F.

No updates. Can’t log a complaint with PayPal due to me foolishly paying via F&F and he has not responded to texts or phone calls. Nothing to do but move forward and never make this $300 mistake again.

Sorry to hear, dude. As a seller here I do love PayPal F&F payments - but I do undertstand if people prefer regular PayPal and accept both. I get it.

As an additional tip - fund your PayPal payment with AMEX or some other high quality source so you can dispute via that layer, if necessary. PayPal isn't always the best, either.

Wow I'm glad you took the half risk and started with $300 first and then $300 after you get everything, way to reduce the risk, I'll give you credit for that!

Dang this sucks. I have had so many members here to F&F to me. But then again I also have like 150+ heat. But I always leave it up to the buyer if they are cool with fees. But its always iffy if you person has no feedback or great history of posting here. In those cases I will even hesitate to do F&F. Hopefully its just a holiday thing and he comes through.
