I'm looking to get a 7900GT but am unsure the current situation is about those faulty ram chips. Was it a majority of the cards or just a small minority? Is the only one that is sure to not have any issues the evga reloaded version? or has there been a recall of some sort and all are more or less okay now?

i wouldnt chance it just get a reloaded evga card. they are cheap enough anyhow.

I have an XFX 7900GT, no problems even after I overclocked it. I got the one that includes VIVO, which is a little more expensive. But you can get the non-VIVO version for about $30 less. The fan is a little loud yes, but does cool the card very well.

would a 7900GT OR GTX be a significant improvement over my current 6600GT?
You know how fast the 6800Ultra is in comparison to your 6600GT?

Ok, multiply that by 2 and you have a ~7900GT :D
