Hi peeps!

I have a problem with my graphics card, I've had it for about two years, Its a Zotac GeForce 9600 GT, but over time, its starting to bend (read: gravity) and I'm looking for a card that is stiff enough that it won't bend. Money is not an issue. Oh, and right under the graphics card is a PCI slot (for my sound card), and I'd like to be able to keep using it too.

Thanks!

Some xfx cards had an aluminum bar on the side. Like my old 9800gt. Also there are card supports that you might try. You any good at modding? Fab something up yourself perhaps?

if money is really not an issue get a reference 6950/6970 with a back plate the back plate on the refference models is a good 1/8 of an inch thick and will not bend.

I never knew anything like that was made. Great find, will be trying these with a few cards in some vertical servers.

Yeah, those work fairly well. I received a similar one meant for dual-card setups with my case, and it works nicely (if not just bulky). These big, heavy cards have got to get changed soon.

Reference 5870, 6950 and 6970 should all come with backplates. Evga currently sells backplates for reference gtx 580, gtx 570 and gtx 480.

Yep, either get a card keeper retention device or buy a reference card that comes with a fully metal backplate.

I have to ask if money is not an issue why in the world are you using a 9600GT?

the Msi 560ti hawk has a integrated bar and I think the asus direct cu II cards do too but they kinda have to since they have big heavy coolers. other those card keepers can work ok

the 6850's are a great bang for your buck =P, Also newegg had a sale on the GT 240 for like 40 bucks after rebate if your look for a lower end card =P

Damn i thought i was the only person who had card bending issues. All of the video cards i owned that met with a premature death were also the cards thats bent so damn much you could spin it on a table.

are u sure it wasnt the spinning part that killed them? :p

Isnt that the only difference between i7 & Xeons. Multiple CPU support & registered ECC ram

Xeons are also usually binned to run at lower temperatures and voltages than their i7 counterparts.

I had this issue with my ASUS GTX580 DCII. Solved the issue hanging the card by the power cables...
