It's got a 3.5-inch resistive WVGA screen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, an ARM Cortex 8 processor, and 1GB 256MB of RAM, and is crammed with 32GB of internal memory with a MicroSD slot for expansion, GPS, an FM transmitter, a 5-megapixel camera, a 3.5mm jack and a gajillion-band cellular radio, including, crucially, support for T-Mobile's 1700MHz slice of the spectrum.

It uses the linux operating system Maemo which is based off of Debian Linux

"With Linux software, Mozilla-based browser technology and now also with cellular connectivity, the Nokia N900 delivers a powerful mobile experience," says Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President, Markets, Nokia. "The Nokia N900 shows where we are going with Maemo and we'll continue to work with the community to push the software forward. What we have with Maemo is something that is fusing the power of the computer, the internet and the mobile phone, and it is great to see that it is evolving in exciting ways."

Coming in at about 700 unlocked, Its gonna be on T-Mobile so with the carrier subsidy, it could end up being 199 with 2 yr contract or more like the TP2 at around 350 with 2 yr contract.

Uses Mozilla based browser. Has 256MB RAM and 768MB virtual memory so a total of 1GB application memory. 800×480 resolution. TI OMAP 3430 microprocessor with ARM Cortex-A8 core at 600MHz. PowerVR SGX graphics core with OpenGL ES 2.0 -- 3D graphics acceleration. Video recording with 16:9 aspect ratio at 848x480 resolution. Camera looks comparable to the N97. Data transfers at 10/2Mbps. Engadget says 48GB microSD not 32? Expected to be on sale this year.

Looks like a major upgrade from Nokia instead of all those minor ones they've been doing.

Lots of pictures

Linux phone FTW. I'm a little surprised it doesn't have more RAM, but 256 is enough if memory is managed well I guess. Also a little surprised anyone is going for resistive touch screens in such spendy devices. The resistive screen in my Touch Pro 2 isn't bad... best resistive I've used but it's not as good as a capacitive that's for sure.
