This is actually rather interesting. The specs are decent and the price should be quite nice in practice. Nokia is going to embrace Android One from now on and the devices will receive security updates up to three years.

Also the Nokia 6 (2018) looks quite nice upgrade from the last year product.

Looks like my dream mid range phone. Just missing wireless charging but overall nice. Maybe an oled screen vs IPS for better always on display for notification etc..

Edit** it looks like this phone will be 500$ which is almost one plus territory. For that price rather have a 5T or upcoming 6

$500 for a phone with the Snapdragon 660? No thank you. The Oneplus 5T is $499, the Mate 9 and Essential phone are $450.

and this where priority would compel certain people to get this vs other current budget flagships. To be fair with stock Android even a 660 with decent flash storage would be overkill

Yup, my wife's Z Play with the 625 is just as fast and responsive in general usage as any SD8xx devices I've handled, while being much more power efficient. Couple these SD6xx SoCs with a large battery like that and you have a phone that's nearly impossible to kill within a day or two. She typically goes to bed with 30+% left and 6-7 hours of Screen-on time over a 16 hour day. No SD820 device of it's time I've seen could come near that with the same 3500ish mAh size battery.

It's supposed to be 399 € which should mean $399 in practice.

Look like Snapdragon 660 is quite decent - CPU grunt is basically equal to Kirin 950, even tad better in multi core. GPU is obviously better. Basically it's fast enough. Judging by GSMArena's Nokia 8 Sirocco and 7 Plus samples the camera is promising too. Unfortunately it's maybe a tad too large for my taste.
