Noisy Motherboard?

There's a very high pitched sound coming from my computer, and I think it might be the motherboard itself. I just finished making a watercooled silencing enclosure for my two raptors, and I've tested with just the raptors on inside their closure, and they are inaudiable when idle. I have no fans running in my system besides my PSU fan, and I've got passive 'sinks on my NB and GPU my CPU is watercooled. I've put all their effort into making my system silent, and after I've finally gotten to the point where I thought there should be almost complete silence, there is this extremely high pitched sound. I've tried pulling individual cards from my system, rebooting each time, no change. It's not my Video card, nor my sound card. There is also a very slight 'ticking' when the hard drives are being accessed, but the sound is not coming from the drives themselves, it's coming from somewhere near the backplane of the motherboard.

I was wondering if someone might have some insight as to if certain components on motherboards are known to be sound producers.

If it matters, my motherboard is in my sig.
 
ok i got a fix for this...

On past electronical experiences I have also experienced hissing noises from my circuit.

At first I thought it was from my capacitor , but then, after experimentation, the noise was actually coming from the inductors (the coils).

What I did to minimize this noise [quite coincidentally, I put a magnet on the inductor....looking for any side effects] was put a small magnet on the inductor. This had no side effects on my circuit (charging time still the same, same voltage...etc).

I did the magnet thing to my AI7 and the hissing sound (when doing Memtest86) disappeared.

what actually happens is that the inductors, due to the frequency applied to them (by a switching regulator) makes them act as sort of a 'piezo buzzer' (or simply making them vibrate).

If the frequency is high enough (while working with dc motors controlled by PWM) it actually CAN become quite annoying (high shriek) when my DC motor stalls.

better quality (better wound) inductors do not make a sound.
 
I was wondering if it might be the inductors. I previously owned a Vantec Nexus fan controller that had really noisy inductors on it. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge :)
 
I was wondering, what size/gauss magnets did you use? Also, where did you place them on the inductors, or does it matter?

Do you have a pic just for curiosities sake?

Noisy Shuttle SFF Inductors

Seems the Shuttle SFF boxes have a problem with noisy PSUs. I'm going to try the hot glue method on my motherboard's inductors. Unless anyone wants to tell me not to for some reason :)
