Noisy heatsink

My Intel box heatsink creates spurious resonances which are transferred through the mainboard to the case. The vibrations come from the motor (buzzing/ringy noises), not the fan itself. This leads to paradoxical situation that the cooler can be actually louder with lower speed.
When I press on the fan motor, these resonances stop. Is there a simple way to get rid of them?
If not, I'm gonna buy a better sink (AC Freezer 7 pro).

Thx for any ideas

Sounds like your stepper motor on your Intel fan is buggered. Could be imbalanced or just plain fukced.

Aftermarket HSF's are cheap and cheerful these days - get yourself one of those.

Alternatively, man up and remove the fan completely. Monitor the temps closely every 10 senconds and blow on it from time to time ...:p:D

Stock HSF are all crap. That's why I ditched my stock AM2 cooler for a OCZ Vanquisher.

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro will do you fine for the price. It's quiet and cools well.

Stock HSF are all crap.
Relatively, anyways. Besides, what about the S939 Opteron heatsink? There definitely weren't any complaints about that one.

Well, there might have been. But the heatpipes are always good.

Yeah, I'll give AMD credit for that, the stock Opteron heatpipe heatsink was rather nice.
