I have several AP14s that are less than a year old. One of them is making a ticking noise, faintly audible over airflow, on an irregular basis. Lasts about 10-30 seconds? Then stops. Will come back 30-60 seconds later. Repeat.

Any ideas on how to quiet it down? It's not the mount, no wires touching it, etc.

and you are quite sure there is not a bit of sleeving or filter something getting into it?

you unmounted it and it still ticks?

Unmounted and still ticks. Oddly enough hasn't ticked all day though.

Sounds like bearing noise. Maybe it's a lame duck, but more likely you just need to lubricate it. That said, there are a lot of differing opinions about lubricating ball bearings, so that is my disclaimer. Just read up before you do.

Jojo may be on to something as well. That sleeving can make funny ticks even when you think it shouldn't.
