what a worthless fan for radiators, it has 120mm fan spacing so is no use for 140mm radiators.
 
The fan in question, which is also the center fan in the HS that is the subject of this thread, will bolt up to a standard 140mm hole spacing with the provided spacer tabs per the Noctua website. I have never owned one (yet) but almost everything I have read about their products has been positive...except price.

Yeah it's a shame that.

It's actually my own review but I have never managed to get hold of a TRUE. Likewise for the Prolimatech Megahalem but I might buy myself one instead of waiting for a sample.

Well the TRUE might not be in there, but the NH-U12P is. We all know that the NH-U12P is only a few degrees warmer than the TRUE, and that the TRUE is about the same as the Megahalems/Mega Shadow. Then this article states that Noctua's new Flagship beats out the old NH-U12P buy a few degrees also. So it seems now Noctua has something that can match a TRUE and Megahalems/Mega Shadow. The Corsair H50 can't quite match the overal performace of these calibur CPU Coolers with Dual Fans going. Then you factor in that Noctua is PACKING two decent fans, so Noctua will win on price yet again. If I was a Megahalems/Mega Shadow, I might try to partner up with Noiseblocker Multiframes or something.

I have the NH-U12P now, and it works nice. I think that the Fan colors got to go. I might apply some red vinyle dye on these fans...

Was going to buy a Mega Shadow, but now I might just wait for the reviews on Noctuas new Flagship CPU Cooler. I have also read that the P series Noctuas fans are going four pin soon.

I just read those review links, now I'm really excited about Noctua's NH-D14 CPU Cooler and NF-P14 FLX 140mm Fan.

I have been posting about the Mega Shadow alot, as I like the look and know it's up there with the best CPU Coolers. But I have been at a loss to find good fans to go with it. Sure I have stumbled upon a few good fans to consider, such as those Multiframe Noiseblockers. Truth is its hard to keep up with and research. Not as measurable as a GPU benchmark and too many variables and opinions, not enough hard evidence.

What Noctua has is a knack for good fans and good CPU Coolers. Takes the guesswork out of purchasing fans for your CPU Coolers, end up being far cheaper when Noctua just bundles them in. That's what convinced me get the NH-U12P over a TRUE last summer. A top performing CPU Cooler that comes with quality fans in one tidy purchase. Even comes with decent TIM and a nice set of extras. That Noctua screwdriver is the coolest screwdriver I have for my PC parts. Comes with the NH-U12P and NH-D14.

But that color scheme... ugh, I love the brown center fan bit, but that fan housing color needs to go. Going to definatly try to vinyle dye it away to Red or Black. Nice thing though is that because it is so light colored already, you don't have to vinyle dye it white first, you can just go to the color you want. This is better than paint as it bonds with the plastic deeply, so the color can't come off. Can't wait to try this on my case wires and Noctua Fans.

Going to buy a Silverstone FT02 PC Case soon. It comes stock with 3x180mm Bottom Intake Fans and 1x120mm Exhaust Fan. Thankfully the 180mm Fan Mounts come with 120 Fan Holes as well. I think these Noctua's might be better fans than the stock Silverstone ones (not a knock against Silverstone Fans, but this is Noctua we are talking about, with a fan that is only 40mm shorter) , so I might just buy 4 of these 140mm Noctua Fans to replace them all (the roundness will provide a kewl look as well), plus get one of those NH-D14s. Then get a lazer tattoo of the Noctua Owl with outstretched wings so I can fly. Ok, skipping that latter bit =)

So will these Noctua Fans work well laying down blowing up? That is my only consern, as the FT02 has a rotated motherboard/airflow configuration. But Noctua warrents these for 6 years, so I feel safe buying them in any case.

This cooler is looking very promising but I just wish they would open their freakin eyes and cut the crap with those fugly colors!
I rather go with Punky Brewster fans than those...Jesus.

Good points! It is clear that this is going to be a competitive cooler. I hear you on Noctua's colors, they don't bug me but I can see how the creme/beige theme might not appeal to everyone. Mechanically and acoustically their fans seem to be the dope though, and that's all I really care about. I would also mention again the Iceage 120 Boss II with the dimpled fins as really interesting as well just in case any [H] editors stumble across the thread.
 
Just pulled the trigger on a Noctua NH-D14! Then I ran to post my old Noctua NH-U12P for sale on Hard Forum. Got a buyer within minutes for $45.

Got the NH-D14 for $92 Delivered from FrozenCPU. Used a coupon code (which apparently never expires) "pcapex" for 5% off.

Interestingly, the NH-D14 was not to be found via site navigation, but it came up via on site search tools and google shopping found it. Only 7 left after I bought, so here it is...

What really sold me over a Mega Shadow was that I get one of those Noctua 140mm Fans to play with. From that early review, it states that the Mobo chipset cooling improves due to the low reaching end of the 140mm fan. From the pics I would have to agree. Just the kind of active fan help I need for my hot running Asus Rampage II Gene. If I like that 140mm fan, I'm going forward with my plan to populate my entire Silverstone FT02 with them.

Seems several web reviews have found the Noctua NH-D14 bested the Megahalems by a few degress. Nice! I liked the Megahalems cus it looks like a Transformers logo! Now I like the beasty look of the Noctua twin towers a bit more. Plus that 140mm fan cools the mobo better.
 
went Mega Shadow instead. What can I say, I like the color and size more.

but I wonder in a open air conditions, would a triple fan on this be better, or a push/pull H50?

Yeah the results do corroborate the numbers I saw on XS earlier this month, it's a beast (both in performance and size haha).
