No WINS, just DNS = Network Neighborhood?

Hello,

Does anyone know if it's possible to have Windows populate Network Neighborhood with a list of computers from DNS instead of using WINS?

I'm reading up on the DisableStrictNameChecking and some other things about migrating off of WINS; but it seems pretty excessive to have WINS going.

Thanks,

Matt

Yes, ever since Server 2000 came out...I've not had a problem having client workstations properly browse the network with just DNS.

You do mean through the crappy "network neighborhood" right?

Err..why is it crappy?
But yeah, network places, or via the start ==> Run \\computername command, etc.

Network Neighborhood required WINS..because that was back in the Win9X/NT days. 2K and on up..it's My Network Places.
