Removed working ATI 9800 XP pro from my IC7-Max3. Installed another ATI 9800 pro to see if it was working. On boot up, intel logo displayed for a moment, then video signal was lost. I replaced that card with the original working ATI 9800 pro and it fails to display any video (no green LED on my monitor either). I tried another working video card, this time a Nvidia card, and it too would not display any video.

Stuck.

I took each of the video cards and then tried them in another system. All three worked fine.

Three working video cards, none display on the max3. Card was working just fine before I pulled it. And there were no problems with the swaps. Molex connector is fine and power is working because video fans are turning.

Any suggestions. As I say I'm stuck. How the heck a simple card swap cause such problems is beyond me. I'm about to get pissed.

(system specs in sig)

I had a similar problem but from playing with my BIOS and then I got no display. Was fixed by clearing CMOS. I'm not experienced with your motherboard, does it have any sort of LED for the AGP slot? Does the motherboard give any beep codes when you turn it on with and without an AGP card in?

Monitor is fine. Works on other system.

I'm afraid the agp slot has been shorted out by the first video card - else why would I have seen the intel logo momentarily before the signal blinked out? Odd that the card itself works fine in another system though.

sounds like the agp is borked to me. Do you have any old PCI cards you can test with?
