I installed a Geforce GTX 460. I booted up to Windows 7 and proceeded to install the driver. I used the latest driver from Nvidia. I reboot and just before it loads my desktop the monitor loses signal and goes to sleep.

I repeat the same procedure with Windows XP and the PC goes into a loop of freezing while loading my desktop and rebooting.

What do you think?

Either the card is faulty, or you are loading the wrong driver (32 vs 64 bit). Just my best guess.

Did you try the card on another machine?

The card is either physically damaged, or has a bad bios flashed to it I would guess. The drivers basically turn all of the cards features on, and if installing drivers causes the card not to work, it's bad news.

Where did you get this card?

Got the card on ebay. The bios version on the sticker is different from what's reported by software. Does EVGA provide bios update?

Since I am running 64bit Windows then 64bit driver is appropriate.

yup
( Just in case there is confusion ) but also the correct windows version....Win 7, or XP....both have 64 bit versions..make sure your loading the correct windows version

Sounds like a borked bios update that was dumped on ebay. If you are installing the correct drivers, I would contact the seller and get a refund ASAP!
