Hello, I bought a Gigabyte GA-M61P-S3 to use as a motherboard for a fileserver. My powersupply is a Silverstone Olympia 650watt. I have all the components connected, and I have no video. This is not my first build.

My PSU did not come with the ATX_12V four-pin plug which my motherboard's manual claims is essential for system operation. I have been trying to run the system without it. Video is onboard. Is it possible for a system to turn on without the ATX_12V plug, contrary to what the manual says?

Did I screw myself by buying a PSU that doesn't supply the proper connections?

I'll hook up a speaker and see if I can get any beep codes, but I'm really saddened by this. Building a new system is so exciting, and watching it fail is pretty demoralizing.

EDIT: oh wait. There's an 8 pin plug that supposedly splits into four. This may have been the worst thread I've ever made. Let me check that real fast.

Yeah, that was it. Sorry for the thread.
