No USB device connecting

I just reformatted one of my computers and installed all the drivers. After installing service pack 3 for XP my USB mouse stopped working. My USB keyboard still works, but no other USB devices I experiment with will connect. This is very painful for me to use "Mousekeys" to try and fix this issue.

Anyone got any ideas?


Update: now my keyboard no longer works, regular non-usb mouses and keyboards don't work either.....
 
Can you open device manager?

Plug in a regular non USB keyboard if you have one.

What does it say about your USB ports?
