No Unsubscribe option in Thread Tools

Looks like this has been pointed out several times over the years. In the Thread Tools dropdown, there's no simple Unsubscribe option when you're subscribed to a thread. Having to use the CP just to unsubscribe from a thread is a pain, and I've never seen it required in any other board running vBulletin 3.

According to an old response from 2007, this was due to a bug in the version of vBulletin being run at the time. It's 2012 now and vBulleten 3.8.6 can't still have the same bug.

I'm sorry, that would be incorrect, thats an "option" to turn on & is off by default via the vbulletin options, unfortunately on large forums it can be a performance hindrance, in other words, each time a user navigates to a thread, the site needs to perform a db query to see if you are subscribed to that thread, if you are, it changes the text to unsubscribe from subscribed, it also adds a icon in the forum display, once again requiring a database performance disadvantage.

There is nothing wrong with the site or your browser.

Wow. Yet another worry about performance that impacts this forum's usability. Either these forums are _way_ busier than they appear or they're running on some damned ancient hardware. Simple things like this should be trivial.

Well there are just shy of 5000 people browsing the forums right now (4844 was the number it told me) so I'd say they are pretty busy.

You should be able to unsubscribe manually in your User CP, that's nothing new . . .

click on it, and then List Subscriptions, from there you can check the boxes of what you want to Unsubscribe to, and then delete them.

What AnthonyG said makes a lot of sense. At the end of the day, an extra db query for every single page load adds up.

Yes, you can.

If you click on User CP you'll see your New Subscribed Threads with a link under each one to unsubscribe.

If you click on View all Subscribed Threads, you can select individual threads and at the bottom of the page is a dropdown menu that gives you the option to unsubscribe or change the subscription type.
