Hey everyone, well I just moved my parts into my Lian-Li today and I tried to play music and my sounds not working. I'm using onboard sound (motherboard: MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum) I have the sound drivers installed, I've tried restarting, and headphones (opposed to my system which is connected with the red and white wires to the one green wire [I'm a little illiterate when it comes to the names for these wires]). It was working fine this morning before I transfered most of my parts into my Lian-Li case and the transition went smoothly. What would be the problem?
 
Have you gone into the Motherboard BIOS and made sure onboard audio is enabled?

Also, im not sure what Lian Li you have, but did you connect any audio cables from the case to eaither the onboard audio or the motherboard?

I connected the "speaker" cable that you put with all the pins (HDD LED, Power Switch, Power LED) etc there, and I didn't have that on my old case, do you think that could be a problem? Its a PC-61 (sig). I haven't check the BIOS yet but I will...
 
Sounds like you might have solved your own problem. Try hooking the headphones into the audio connectors on the case....... and see if they have sound.

If they do, then you know what the problem is.

Well I took out the "Speaker" plug and checked the BIOS and On-Board audio was enabled and I still don't have sound...
 
You dont have sound from which plug????? The front connect or the rear sound header on the motherboard ???? You may have a short somewhere on the board attachment to the case, check your standoffs and your front connect header on the motherboard to make sure everything is ok. Dumb check off, but check the windows sound file and make sure the volume is up and the speakers are correctly labeled. also make sure the onboard sound and windows are on the same "page".
 
Well I don't have anywhere to connect audio in the front, so I'm only using the back. I have checked to see if my volume was turned up, it's on full volume right now, lol...Hmm I can't think of any reason why its not working? I used some more standoffs this time rather then I did in my old case, do you think its grounded?
 
Bump...I still have no sound :(

I know its not my system, because I have my iRiver plugged into it and it works just fine...
 
Bump...still no sound? Anyone?

I recheck BIOS, onboard sound is enabled, I reinstalled the Realtek AC97 drivers, still having trouble..I don't get it, it just shut off all of a sudden and that was it... :confused:
 
Bump again!

Has anyone ever had this problem? I still can't figure it out, I've reinstalled my drivers 5 times, I've checked my sound settings, I've checked BIOS, and I still can't get it to work! :mad:

Disconnect the front pannel audio stuffs, put the jumpers back in and see if it works.

I don't have front panel audio, its a Lian-Li PC-61, the only thing on the front is two usb ports which I don't have connected. I think it might be because I used 9 standoffs/screws and in my old case I only used 5...

I don't think that's the problem.......................

Theres bound to be something else at fault.

It could be software or hardware related.

Also, what do you mean by "I have my iRiver plugged into it and it works just fine"?

Oh, and also, if your using windows XP, right click "my computer", click properities, click the hardware tab, and click the device manager button. Scroll up/down to try and find any devices with a yellow circle next to the icon. Do you have any small icons with a yellow circle next to it?

Well I had my iRiver (mp3 player) plugged into my system, to check if maybe it was my system at fault, but my system worked just fine. I've checked device manager, no yellow circles or unknown hardware, everything is fine there.

I can't think of any reason that would cause this problem.. :confused:
