Hi all.
Hopeful/desperate for help!
Old PC with onboard sound. On the mobo the chips are Creative ES1371 and CT1297. Windows originally had the audio described as a Ensoniq Soundblaster PCI 64v or similar. Aida32 identifies it as a Soundblaster PCI 128. The PC was having problems booting - 5 minute pause before going into windows. This was removed by disabling the sound card in device manager. So assuming bad sound card driver have tried to install new driver. Problem is, no matter what I install, that claims to be just right for the purpose, there is no sound. No conflicts or problems encountered. Trying to play sound files eg in media player, looks as if it is working, but there is just no sound coming out of the speakers (which work and are plugged into the right socket.)
How can I get some sound back?
