No Signal while running graphic intensive programs.

Okay, first I have ruled out temperature, and second I have ruled out drivers, I have tried the NGOHQ drivers, the Omega drivers, and ATI's drivers. I get the same result on everyone one of them.

After a random amount of time while running XXX graphic intense application I get a "No Signal" screen on my AMW 19' LCD monitor. Now here's the fun part, it occurs completely randomly I mean I HAVE left the artifact scanner from both ATI Tool and Tray tools for HOURS, yet no artifacts and no "No Signal" display. But the moment I would say load up Oblivion or DoD: S I would get that "No Signal" five seconds later. Now I have yet to monitor the voltages for the 12 rail while playing a game, but I know they that they have been rock solid stable while running 3DMark, staying in the range of 12.10, 12.16 and 12.22, never going beyond that or below that.

And the PSU is an Antec SmartPower 2.0, I picked it actually right off of the guide here on hardocp, this is my first build also by the way. The video card is a Sapphire X850XT.

Here's a simple breakdown.

Specs:

Antec SmartPower 2.0 500W 36 AMPS on 12+ Rail.
AMD X2 3800 Dual Core 939 Socket. (stock cooling) Idle Temperature: 43C Load Temperature: 55-60C Maximum Temperature Logged : 60C
Sapphire X850XT (stock cooling) Idle Temperature: 41C Load Temperature: 65-70C Maximum Temperature Logged: 85C.
Biostar TForce 4 Ultra 939 Biostar motherboard.

And one optical, one HDD, one floppy, ect.

Problem and Indicators:

After a undetermined amount of time the monitor will go blank and give a "No Signal" while running a graphic intensive application of any kind. The computer itself cannot be access while the "No signal" is shown, no audio is emitted also, so I know the computer has literally shut itself down. Only a reboot will bring it out of this mode. All power saving and assorted power options have been fine tuned or shut off, Windows power saving or so forth cannot be the cause. Also when crash occurs and is most often then not the graphics of said application will have become skewered across the screen, usually in vertical lines, or tiled across the screen, then closely followed by the "No Signal" warning.

And just one single time I recieved a auditory indicator from the motherboard after a "No signal" failing, and a follow-up reboot. The indicator was two short beeps, according to my motherboard that means it A) Cannot detect video card or B) Bad VGA memory. Considering that fact that there was a "No signal" on the screen at the time of the beeps, I can only assume it ment it couldn't detect it. However, that may not be the case of course.

Games it has happened in:

The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
All Valve Source Games (HL2 CS:S DOD:S HL2:EP1)
FEAR.
Doom3.

It has never happened in:

Titan Quest.
3DMark 03' 05'
Homeworld 2
FEAR Combat.
ATI Tool: Artifact Scanner.
ATI Tray Tools: Artifact Scanner.

So anyone got a clue? The video card itself has been rock solid for the most part the "No signal" is very random, and fairly rare (i've only had it happen around six or seven times over 3 weeks of the computer being operational) and both heat/voltage do not seem to be the case.

I have the almost same problem, except that it not a continuos but it flicking in and out. I still have audio. I have the x1900xt with the Antec Smart Power 2.0. My problem only seem to occour when I have my resolution to 1600x1200. I would lose signal and the screen would go blank for a second or two, somethimg 5-10 seconds long in BF2 if I have it on 1600x1200 but if I have it on 1280x1028 it run fine. Losing signal in games seem random but if I run this program http://www.dps.uk.com/freeware_DTP.htm it's reproduceable every time if I try to display the hash, verticle, or horizontal pattern. The screen would go crazy and blinking in and out. I thought I broke my monitor the first time I try it.

Edit to add that my card seem to be incapable of handling 1600x1200. It get artifact on the destop at 1600x1200, but runing the artifact detector in ATITool doesnt' seem to find any artifact even though on the screen there are pixel that are doing the "sparkle".

Heat doesn't seem to be the cause even though the card get to about 90 C sometime. Running BF2 at 1280x1028 at max setting and 6x anti-aliasing, it get to about 83C but there's no problem at all. Running it at 1600x1200, there's all kind of artifact and losing signal and it get to about 85C.

I have solved my problem with the monitor losing signal. Here's what I posted in another thread, why don't you give it a try and see.

I went "Digital Panel Properties" in ATI Control panel. Under that go to "Attributes" then go the the DVI setting section and check "Lower DVI frequency on high resolution display" It solved the losing signal problem.
