I've got a weird problem here....
I've built a new-ish system, and the computer won't post (no green power light, no beep, nothing on screen). However, if I follow this procedure: power on, turn off PS switch at the back, turn PS switch back on, power on again, it will post and boot. Every time. Once it boots, it's rock solid. No problems, runs cold. An alternative is to unplug / replug the power cord before turning on. That works every time too.
Power supply is an old Enermax 350W (probably one of the first ATX 12V units). I've also tried a brand new Enermax 485W NoiseTaker and the results are exactly the same. System specs: Athlon 64 3000+, Gigabyte K8MSC NF3 250, Radeon X850 Pro, 2 hard drives, 2 optical drives. The CPU is overclocked from 1.8 to 2.52 GHz, and the X850 is unlocked to 16 pipelines.
Again, once it boots, it runs great. CPU hits 44 degrees C max during gameplay, and it's totally stable for weeks on end. The boot procedure is really quick, but I think it's somewhat odd that I can't just power on normally. This might be a motherboard problem, perhaps, since it seems to always work after I totally kill power to the system?
