No one mentions this about push pull but.........

They are impossible to use if you value your sanity. Push-pull doubles the noise it seems and x10 the annoying turbulence noise.

Ironically, I found that since I can't push-pull my H50 without putting the fans on lowest settings, I took it off and kept one fan to push @ 100% (which is more quiet than 2x fans on lowest) and temps are better.

push pull is not a noise problem with the right fan...not cheap thou. I'm using noctua p12s in push pull, can't hear them at all. Course they cost $20 ea...

Utilizing a ~ 30mm spacer (on both sides of the radiator) will minimize the cavitation and turbulence noise you're experiencing. If that cannot fit, then just use 1 fan.

i will take a tad bit of extra noise for 10c cooler temps. i put another fan on my hsf, and it idles in the low 30's now and max 100% loads at 57c vs 68c. i can deal with it.

are your fans matched? (brand and speed)
what brand are you using?
what speed are you using?

a decent set of fans that are matched aren't going to create that much extra noise as compared to a single fan pushing.

2x S-Flex 1200
2x Gentle Typhoon 1850
2x Slipstreams 1900

Tried the top two on Megahalems (the worst high pitched turbulence sound)
Tried all of those on the H50, even the Gentle Typhoons experienced some serious exponential noise increase, because by themselves at 1850 RPM, GTs are nearly silent.

heh, those are obviously some top notch fans. you sure you don't just have very sensitive ears? :D

I do, and now my system is all woosh sounds but it's all air flow noise, which I don't mind. :)

Always test temps before and after push/pull. You usually won't see enough difference in temps (1 or 2 degrees) to warrant the extra fan, however some setups do benefit more than others.

Tip - place your case underneath your desk. It will do wonders for noise output.

I use push and pull and its important to have the stronger fan pulling instead of pushing. If the stronger fan is pushing it will disrupt the airflow and will cause the temps to run a little hotter.

If it's pulling it will pull the hot air out faster, but. It cannot be so fast as to disrupt the airflow and cause the push fan to have turbulence. And If that happens then it will just cause the cpu to run hot still.

I have the CM Hyper 212 Plus, idle temps with 2 fans is about 32,take the pull fan off it actually goes down to 31,but full load with 2 fans it it 4 c cooler with 2 fans than with one..Go figure:)

You might also take some old dead fans and cut the fan out of the surround to make some cheap and easy fan shrouds. This should allow the air to calm its turbulence just a bit before it gets stirred up by the pull fan.
