That's the same file as the torrent from TPB when it first became available.

And your point is? Of course it is the same file if the torrent you downloaded from was legit and wasn't injected with a worm or trojan. I just provided an alternative way to get the SP3 file for those that don't use file sharing programs.I don't have any file sharing programs installed right now because my ISP throttles them (unless I use encrypted connection) and getting it from Major Geeks was a lot faster than most torrents provide too.

    Download size (total): 649.3 MB
Estimated time at your connection speed: 1 hour 22 minutes

SP3 and Office 2007 Security fixes. Why is it so big.

At least the servers are fast, 3MB/sec.

I just downloaded the file from Microsoft (at my reply #4 URL) and confirmed the md5sum at bb25707c919dd835a9d9706b5725af58. Was a very fast download.

I'm assuming that the OS with the SP slipstreamed is not available for DL right? (Yes, I know about nlite and all that......)

Damn, thats what I thought - I can totally understand why it is not, but you should be able to put in a valid CD key and download the file.

Integrated ISOs are available for download to MSDN/TechNet subscribers, but not to the general public at large, so... yes they are available for download, just not for any old average Joe... hey, I resemble that remark... ;)

I haven't seen anything regarding SP3 on my TechNet sub as of yet.

Well I wasn't meaning XP SP3 right at this moment, dagnabbit. My comment was directed towards stating that yes integrated ISOs are available for download to MSDN/TechNet members as opposed to what LoStMaTt said: "....never have been available for DL."

My assumption was that he (or she) was stating you can't get integrated ISOs from Microsoft for their OSes, which is obviously not true: they are available, but not to the general public.

XP SP3 will be available soon enough from MSDN/TechNet.

At the risk of being noob-slapped... does this SP3 work for 32bit AND 64bit?

Same as your point. The "questionable" TPB torrent is exactly the same file. Anyways, it would be a great trick to both match the hashes *and* the signature with a virus or trojan injected.

The topic is a prime example of unreasonable FUD.

No, because XP x64 is based on Windows Server 2003 as has been discussed countless times around here and most every other place. XP 32 bit doesn't equal XP 64 bit, they're two incompatible OSes for service packs - XP 32 bit is up to SP3 now, and XP x64 is up to SP2 because that's what Windows Server 2003 is up to (and don't think because it's SP2 means it's lacking, as Server 2003 is a superior OS anyway).

For crying out loud, don't argue about that torrent here.
The torrent wasn't questionable, the site was, now get over it.

I don't lurk around OS threads here or anywhere else, hence my question. I consider myself appropriately noob-slapped! ;)

No. XP x64 is a branch of the Server 2003 codebase. You'll see an SP3 for XP x64 when/if they do one for Server 2003 x64.
