So I have a bunch of bestbuy gift cards laying around, and I have been thinking about upgrading my monitor. Right now I have a 22" LG that has been pretty good, but there are some finicky pixels scattered around.

Anyway, my current monitor is mounted on an arm-mount, getting it up off the desk, which I prefer, since for law school, I need all of the rl desktop realestate I can get.

When I was in best buy today, I noticed that all of the newer led style monitors, and most of the standard lcd monitors no longer have the four-hole mounting points on the back.

Are these going away industry-wide, ot just at Best buy?

It's a few reasons, there are led lcd's with vesa mount viewsonic has a few, its a MINE IS BETTER war between competing companies, everyone wants to claim the lightest, thinnest, greenest. An added vesa mount increases the thickness easily by half an inch, and retailers such as bestbuy stock lower end TN lcd's at a low price, the average person doesnt know shit about lcd technology and just wants a new screen because his 10 year old gateway crt died. So in conclusion, they are out there, just not as common in major retailers.
