Seeing as how I can no longer go to Newegg and buy a Ref. HD 6950 that will unlock, I dont want to get one of the non Ref. Ones either...

So I think i am correct on this but if i were to buy a 6970 and it were Reference to add on to my current 6950s, they will all run at the current 6950s speed?

BUT if the 6950s are unlocked and clocked to 6970 clocks, then in theory they should all run as if they were all 6970s Correct?

would it even be worth it to get another 6970 to make my Eyefinity look better?
 
This is the reason I decided to buy the 6970. Originally wanted a 6950, the MSI Frozr II or III. Seeing as there were no more reference and we were only talking about another $40-$50, it was an easy choice.

Yes, it will x fire just fine and run at 6970 speed or any other clock you give it..
