Today I upgraded my athlon xp to an athlon 64(reformatted and reinstalled windows), fired up windows XP installed the stuff on the disc that came with the mobo(including the reatek audio drivers) now sound effects work(msn messenger) but when I go to play a song in windows media player or itunes it says no mixers installed, go to control panel and select add printer or other device and install a mixer, now I don't have that option in control panel and I took a quick look in the add hardware panel and didnt find anything, so I decided to ask here since I could probably get a resolution quicker, plus I have to rebuild another computer tonight/tomorrow so I dont feel like spending hours on this.
 
Ummmmmmmmm, are we left to assume the reason for the format was to install the 64 bit version of Windows?
If so are the drivers from the CD 64bit or 32bit drivers?
 
no the reformat was because I got a new mobo and proc, and windows wasnt starting after I put those in so I just reformatted(had everything backed up on my ipod since I was expecting this). The version of windows is just XP home, I plan to upgrade to SP2 tonight(let it download while I sleep).
 
well I had to restart my computer to test a hard drive and it's working now, I'm guessing magic solved it, oh well, I'm pleased. I have to install windows xp on another machine and that may be helpful, thanks.
