Hello Games has posted patch notes for No Man's Sky while, at the same time, announcing another upcoming patch. Aside from the fact the game is extremely repetitive and boring when it is working, it's clearly obvious they should have delayed this game to work out all these bugs. :(

Right now the team is fully focused on categorising and fixing support issues in order of priority, based on the number of people they are affecting. The information and crash dumps you’ve posted have been indispensable in helping us track down and fix these issues. We’ve now released 3 patches, and hopefully they really improve the experience for everybody. As you can see it’s been a huge amount of work for a small team. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Next week expect at least one more major update, which will enter testing on Monday once we finish working on it this weekend. Once all our support requests have been answered then we can begin improving the game with new features :)

"Boring" is subjective. I've spent more time on this game than I have on any game in a long while. It's a relaxing game. No competitive online leaderboard bullshit to worry about just flying around and seeing what's over the next hill or on the next planet.

Agreed. I got my moneys worth out of it so far. It is actually nice to play without multiplayer and something I can just play for me.

Duckhunt is 'boring and repetitive' but look how much time we all spent on that one.

There's clearly a market for the game, and considering I've heard they only have 15 employees, its not really fair to compare them to "similar" games like Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen. That said, it seems like they deliberately sold and hyped the game to people who would not enjoy it, instead of showing what it really was.

That's the tough part though. The price should reflect the total work they were able to put into it as well. The game is clearly lacking in pretty much every department and yet it went out the door as a $60 full fledged product.

Very true.

It was just frustrating grinding for resources to get off the planet only to fly to another planet and do the exact same thing. I can see where someone could just kick back, relax and play it but I just couldn't get into it and my son quit within the first few days of playing it. :(

I don't think they hyped it so much as they didn't really give much information beyond the trailers (which is understandable as it's a huge game being made by 15 people) and people just sort of injected what they thought the game was going to be into the void of information. I don't think there was anything deliberate behind it they just didn't have anyone dedicated to quashing rumor and innuendo that ran rampant around the internet. People would take one little statement given during an interview and blow it up into something that was way bigger than that statement. It was never going to live up to the game that people were dreaming it to be. Star Citizen will probably suffer a similar fate (if it ever actually gets released) for the same reasons.

Honestly if they keep up streaming in patches & possibly community driven feature requests I could see them turning it around and coming out with a faded black eye in the end instead of all the lash marks of the whippings they're getting everywhere.

However for the life of me I can't figure out how the shipped a space exploration game that didn't have relatively common sense features...
IE
Planetary ship repair & refilling integrated into the trade posts
Ship repair and refilling in the Space Ports
Ship Markets for new/used/custom ships that'd allow you to sell your current ship upon delivery of your new ship

There's other stuff but hey :) can't ask a crew of 15 or so individuals to walk on water to please everyone instantly.

Its spore all over again.

Eh might get it on steam 75% off sale at Christmas. This is not fallout 4 quality, this is at best xcom2 or the division, and those you could get for $30-40 at launch if you were swift.

Too little too late. I really wish there were more strict laws about false advertisements. Sean Murray should be drawn and quartered.
No Man's Sky is explicit highway robbery, Dick Turpin is spinning in his grave.

Pretty sure Sean just flat out lied on most of it. See here, quite a detailed post with all the stuff Sean said was in the game, that's not there, including stuff he said just mere weeks before release: The Original Reddit Post

All games are repetitive at their core. If you're having fun you don't notice it. If you're not having fun then you call it a boring grind.

I played NMS at a friends for a couple of hours yesterday. Even with the issues, I would have bought and enjoyed this game if it cost about $15. But even if it had delivered on all the promises and hype it wouldn't have been worth $60.

Yea i was kinda irked that ALL the ships are the same. They all have 2 guns and are the same speed/armor/etc. No point getting one that "looks" like a fighter, it will handle and fight just as good as the barge.

Yeah that's my beef with it. The first couple of hours were amazing. And then it started to become evident how much just wasn't there that was promised. I hate being lied to, especially when I've spent $NZ 90 on it.

That along with other things has been proven wrong but everyone keeps linking that original user deleted bullshit, or plays it for ten minutes, making them an expert.. go read the reason it was deleted...

The thing is NMS looks good for the style of game it is. It remains on my wishlist until the price comes down. My only gripe with the game is the fact that it flatly isn't a $60 title. This is a $20 title at MOST. The way I see it any game that has less overall game play than Terreria has no business being above $20. Terreria has an insane amount of gameplay for $10. The only turnoff for some is the pixel sprite art style.

Fair enough
I'm sure for some it's relaxing
Was for me too

Too bad I asked myself after 15 hours why I'm playing and grinding resources to sell them

Visited ~ 20 planets and they were not that different
There's always plenty of caves around with plutonium crystals in them
Plus some other element mixed in a bit

Sure it was kinda cool seeing flying Fishlike creatures
But usually there's just not much to see, lore to figure out or anything

It just evolves around grinding so you can get a ship/suit/gun with more slots
And at some point you have a ship that's good enough, so you don't need to grind any more
By that time you can craft antimatter from the ground up (electron vapor and so)
And it ended up being so easy it's mind boggling why i actually have to

You just fly from system to system
For...
I personally can't figure out why
It's not like there's actually much to see

Well for me
Sad is I don't even bother to land for certain structures at all
No point in learning words
What for?

Game needs a hardcore option where resources don't literally fall from the sky and you might have to manage you're resources and hold onto them

I found carrying around resources to be near useless

The numbers say it all. On release there were 212,321 people playing. Today's peak was 33,805. Sure there's hype around a new game, but that's a pretty fucking significant drop in that short a time.

There's a diference beyond slot numbers?
Jumped ships 4 times

Maybe a link for something to read?

I think somewhere was said small ships actually behave different then the big ones
But I don't know
Why should I care?
What can I do with it differently?

I found combat in all ships I jumped into to be a chore, not fun and a sure way to die really fast

And since it doesn't matter how nimble something is for exploring (can't crash into a hill for instance)
Well why does it matter that the big ones can get they're nose down better when you dive into an atmosphere (I think I read that somewhere)

They should have waited a while to ship this. Damn, lots of patches in a short amount of time. Perhaps a beta program would have helped them do more testing?

I enjoy the game. The thing is though, this was clearly developed for the PS4 and ported to the PC. I have no issue with it on the PS4, but man, I feel sorry for the PC players. They should of delayed this a bit longer for PC players.

I'm enjoying the game. But to be fair, I don't believe a word out of these guys mouths when they talk about adding new features. I've a feeling they've not realized the hype-train has come to a stop. Maybe they''ll pull it off, add the features everyone wants, and all will be happy. I'd be less surprised if they waited to add the meaningful stuff to NMS2.

My hope is that this game is out of Alpha stage and has viable content by the time it hits the basement blow out Steam Christmas sale. I'm all in for $4.99

There's a great free program called Space Engine that gives you a procedurally generated universe to fly around and explore. It's fun/relaxing to poke around without a half-baked busywork game tacked on.

That's why they need to be sued. A clear message needs to be sent that it is not ok to hoodwink customers.

So it's basically "mobile game marketing" come to PC. Simple mobile games have fantastical video ads.
