No IPTV in Xbox 360, Not Quite Yet

Microsoft has clarified the IPTV Xbox 360 rumors that have been floating around all week. In the end, it is a good news / bad news scenario. The features will be there, it is up to service providers to do something with it.

The features are part of the Microsoft Mediaroom services and will be given to TV service providers by the end of 2007. After that, it's entirely up to those providers to determine when the feature becomes available. It could be next spring, fall, or beyond.

Since was IPTV a rumor for the 360? I thought they announced it along time ago and that it should be included in the fall update which it sounds like it wont be.
 
A refurbished 360 popped up with an odd addition to the dash that looked like it was for IPTV. Many started specualting it would come in the fall dash release, but MS says no.
 
The PS3 and Xbox 360 are so well suited for this kind of stuff...hell, they are better than the PCs owned by the average Joe...why not do as much with them as you can?

I say it WILL be in the fall update ;)
