I have a Promise Ultra100 card which I moded to a FastTrak100, and I'm using two WD600AB 60GB 5400rpm drives as a RAID0 array. Both are master on seperate channels. When I benchmark it with hdtach, the average speed only increases by 2mb/s. By themselves the drives do 23mb/s, with the RAID they do 25mb/s. I was hoping for a bigger data transfer rate than that. Is it my drives or the controller or something else?

yes and yes. I used HDTACH, maybe that's the problem. When I used Sandra benchmarking program it showed 62mb/s sequential read speed.

Did you create an array for the drives? It's not automatic.

And are you using good 80-conductor ATA-66 or better cables?

Does your controller have it's own IRQ, or is it sharing one with a NIC? If it's sharing with your NIC, try forcing your NIC onto a different IRQ or moving the controller card to another PCI slot (it's a PCI card, no?). If they aren't sharing an IRQ, check to make sure Windows has the proper drivers for the card.
